All Bodo Students Union (ABSU)Started in 1967 to free the areas of Bodos into a separate entity. All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is a movement started to bring this change; but soon enough they realized that to build that dream, there is some ground work that needs to be done. Hence ABSU made it their main focus to empower their own people. Over years and after a lot of bloodshed, people realized that violence is not the solution. Pramod Boro (President ABSU - at centre of photo) said “Non violence is the only way left. We have tried everything in our hands. Now it’s for us to realize the importance.

Rekha Shahani, an old friend of IofC is a trustee and principal of Kamla High School (KHS) Mumbai. She has recently started an initiative for inter-faith and inter-cultural exchange between the students of her school and those of Anjuman-E-Islam Girls High School, Bandra, Mumbai. The medium of study for the latter school is Urdu, whereas that of Kamla High School is English.

Initiatives of Change Indien lädt Sie ein, für ein paar Jahre Teil eines engagierten internationalen IofC-Teams zu werden. Ein Teil des Teams wird in Asia Plateau/Panchgani arbeiten und sich um IofC-Outreach-Aktionen kümmern. Andere, die nicht vor Ort mitarbeiten können, jedoch auch die Prinzipien IofC in ihrem Leben umsetzen und sich für IofC einsetzen möchten, werden mit dem in Indien stationierten Team zusammenarbeiten.

I&C Inde vous invite à faire partie pour quelques années d'une équipe mondiale d'&C un peu spéciale : certains d’entre vous travailleront à Asia Plateau, Panchgani, pour des projets d'action sociale développés par I&C, pendant que les autres qui ne peuvent pas s’y rendre, resteront connectés avec l’équipe basée en Inde car eux aussi ont envie de vivre cette expérience !

IofC works today. Why won’t it work tomorrow? IofC India invites you for some years to be part of a dedicated IofC global team, some of whom will operate out of Asia Plateau, Panchgani, committed to IofC outreach actions, and others unable to come but who will stay connected with the team based in India because they too want to live and be responsible for IofC for life.

Day Two began with a session titled ‘Leading from the street’, chaired by Mr Rajmohan Gandhi who recognized the importance of the street in people movements throughout world history. The first of the dialogue initiators, Mireille Fanon Mendes-France, spoke about the shortcomings of the recent WTO negotiations in Bali that exposed the problem lying behind the expansion of trade and the lack of political will, to address inequity of opportunity between developed and developing nations.
