Initiating Change  – from Within to Beyond

Seven-week training to become effective Change Leaders

A practical and intensive programme for energetic, self-starting young adults, who are ready to engage deeply with the core ideas of IofC – to change oneself, live with integrity, and bring positive change in society.

The programme is open to people of all backgrounds, cultures, nationalities etc. and provides a unique opportunity to work with diverse people who are seriously attempting to make a difference in today’s world.

The training will be held at Asia Plateau (AP), the international centre for IofC (formerly MRA), in the hills of Panchgani, Maharashtra, 100 km from. The centre is constantly busy with short courses for batches ranging from senior Government officers, business leaders to educators and youth.

The Programme

There are two batches in a year – each batch is for seven weeks:

  • The first four weeks at AP may cover:
    • Orientation and introduction
    • History, heritage, and heart of IofC
    • ‘Inner Voice’ understanding and practicing the inner wisdom
    • Learning to be a change-maker and building a team
    • Attending selected AP programmes and assisting
    • Understanding each other’s cultures & backgrounds
    • Developing facilitation, presentation, communication skills etc.
    • Understanding the world and its issues, and one’s role in it
  • The next two weeks of outreach:
    • Sharing learnings and one’s own story of change with a wider audience
    • Helping further the work of the local teams in the outreach areas
  • The last week:
    • Evaluation of outreach
    • Focusing on one’s role in one’s own region/country

A large part of what each individual gains from such a programme depends on how deeply he or she engages with each element of the planned programme. There are several opportunities and modes of learning, which include, but are not restricted to:

  • Experimenting for oneself with the ideas presented
  • Participation in seminars, workshops, conferences and other programmes of AP to listen to experts on various subjects
  • Self-study and research –books, websites, and videos on IofC’s rich heritage
  • Interactions and discussions – with facilitators and participants from varied backgrounds, professions and locations

Some basic pre-requisites for participation are:

  • Exposure to IofC – participation in an IofC programme, association with an IofC friend etc.
  • Graduate (Preferable but not essential).
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Should be a responsible and reliable self-starter and a cheerful team player.
  • A commitment to live by the ground-rules of Asia Plateau, respect for all and maintenance of discipline are essential.
  • A sincere effort to live a life of care and service, accepting of IofC’s standards of Unconditional Purity, Honesty, Unselfishness and Love as values to live by
  • Should be physically and mentally fit, in good health, with ability for hard work, service, and travel.
  • Age: Between 21 and 35 years.
  • A willing participation in all aspects of the programme is essential.

Cost of programme

Cost of travel to Asia Plateau and back, any visa costs, incidental and personal expenditure and any other personal travel is to be borne by the candidates. Selected candidates from outside of India should ensure they have health insurance covering their entire stay in India.  

Built with sacrifice Asia Plateau runs on the spirit of giving. There is no stipulated fee for the programme. Food and accommodation as well as any domestic travel expenses in connection with the programme will be borne by IofC India, for the duration of the programme. However, any voluntary contribution from you will be appreciated and will help to cover your cost while here.
